One of the Principal Reearchers of GENIE Learn, Prof. Carlos Delgado Kloos, and one member of the Research Team, Dr. Carlos Alario-Hoyos, participate with a keynote speech and a panel discussion at the 31st annual ACM Conference on Innovation and Technology in Computer Science Education (ITiCSE 2026), held July 13–15, 2026, at Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid, organized by the ACM Special Interest Group on Computing Education (SIGCSE), in collaboration with the ACM Europe Council e Informatics Europe.
In particular, on July 15, during the session preceding the conference’s closing ceremony, Prof. Carlos Delgado Kloos delivers the plenary lecture “Programming is on Fire: Can CS Education Handle the Heat?,” a reflection on the impact of Generative Artificial Intelligence on the teaching of programming and computer science. In his presentation, Prof. Carlos Delgado analyzes the challenges posed to educational institutions by the growing ability of AI models to dominate software development, and proposes principles and guidelines for navigating an environment of rapid change and pedagogical uncertainty.
